Perfect tenses

We call 'perfect tense' a combination of:
  • A form of the verb 'to have' (have, has, had, hasn't...)
  • A past participple (been, talked, visited, written...).
Depending on the form of 'have' and the presence (or absence) of a gerund, you may find the following combinations:
  1. Present perfect simple [present have + pp]
  2. Present perfect continous [present have + pp + gerund]
  3. Past perfect [past have + pp]
  4. Past perfect continuous [past have + pp + gerund]
If you feel that you need to practise, have a look at your workbook. You will find some exercises that will help you revise these tenses. Should you want some extra practice, do not hesitate to complete the activities that you find at the bottom of each of the above links.
